Makino is the best way to get expert work out of novices and make experienced operators more productive? Take away the troublesome set-up work and tedious programming and let them concentrate on their main job — machining. <%=company%>'s KE55 redefines the CNC milling machine with unmatched versatility, simplicity and precision. On single part runs, it outperforms other machines in its class in every measure — including speed, accuracy and machining reliability. Intuitive operation and extensive function controls enable a wide range of machining operations, including tapping and oblique and circular cutting. Even operators with minimal machining or programming experience can run parts in a matter of minutes. And unfamiliar jobs can be machined expertly the first time.

Makino brings unrivaled manufacturing expertise and innovation to its production of the KE55. More than 30,000 Makino K Series general purpose milling machines are currently in operation worldwide. Rock-solid cast iron structure, re-engineered knee design for higher rigidity and square guideways provide the strength and precision for mold, and tool and die work. Its unique versatility makes the KE55 an excellent job shop machine and a trainer for transitioning to CNC machining.

Operators can freely adjust the spindle speed, feedrate and depth of cut while listening to the cutting sound. The machine moves by only the amount the handles are turned, providing positioning accuracy to within 5µm or .001mm. A built-in counterbalance of the ram and spindle head keeps the center of gravity within the body envelope, assuring precision and rigidity in the Y-axis stroke. The ballscrew is located inside the column, improving its life and performance. In addition, the knee is supported by six gibs to offset table overhang, allowing for full performance even under maximum table loading conditions.

The KE55 features a 4,000 or 6,000 rpm, 7.5 hp (5.0 continuous), #40 taper spindle for efficient machining of a wide range of materials, including tool and mold steels. In addition, Makino's patented geometric intelligence has been added for greater accuracy at higher feedrates. Coupled with an optional Remote Buffer unit, the KE55 can effectively machine in all three dimensions for cavity and core applications.
