Surfware and Baystate Technologies Create New Partnership

SURFCAM and CADKEY deliver direct, automatic One-Button File Transfer

N/A, worldwide manufacturers of the SURFCAM® suite of leading PC-based CAD/CAM software, and Baystate Technologies, Inc., developer of CADKEY® mechanical PC-CAD solutions for the global marketplace, announced a new strategic partnership between the two companies. Baystate Technologies (Marlborough, MA) recently advanced to the level of Innovation Partner in the SURFCAM Business Alliance Partner program, a program initiated by Surfware to strengthen relationships with businesses focused on the CAD/CAM/CNC industry. Surfware has also advanced to a CADKEY Strategic Partner ranking, which is the top level in the CADKEY Global Partners Program.

Surfware devised an important new mechanism, the One-Button File Transfer technology, that enables seamless bi-directional communication between CAD programs, such as Baystate's CADKEY, and SURFCAM. Developers from both Surfware and Baystate implemented an integrated One-Button File Transfer function that sends CADKEY file data to SURFCAM within the CADKEY interface. Once toolpath data is generated on the file in SURFCAM, the file can still be modified within the CADKEY interface and updated in SURFCAM without losing the toolpath data. This technology will work with solid models, surfaces and wireframe geometry.

"This technology is the beginning of a new trend in the CAD/CAM industry and positions SURFCAM as a leader driving this new trend," states Alan Diehl, Surfware CEO. "Surfware and Baystate Technologies have taken a major step forward toward CAD and CAM developers working together to provide data associativity between these products. Also, this One-Button File Transfer between SURFCAM and CADKEY will ease the problems and hassles normally associated with data transfer."

"Baystate is looking forward to a continued strategic business relationship with Surfware, which has started with cooperative development and will proceed with joint promotional efforts," states Robert Bean, president and CEO of Baystate Technologies. "CADKEY customers will experience a new level of streamlined interaction and data compatibility when using SURFCAM to move their design data downstream to manufacturing. Valuable time is lost each time an engineer has to translate data and move in and out of software programs. With this type of interoperability, our design and manufacturing users can readily blend CAD and CAM tools smoothly and productively into their day-to-day workflow."
